Excellent point. This would also go "hand in hand" ;-) with my
curiosity as to whether the fact that MORE people than ever before
actually utilize typing keyboards alters in any way their capacity for
learning keyboard or woodwind instrumental finger technique. Definitely
a study for the scientific minded.

Polls alone also tend to have a certain built-in ambiguity IMO. It is
difficult/impossible to observe those being polled for accuracy in each
person's assessment of his/her tendencies relative to whatever
measurement of norm is being used. Perhaps a more statistically correct
and accurate study could be made utilizing random samples of 1) a
control population; 2) non-musicians; and 3) musicians, and not only
questioning these folks in detail regarding handedness, but also setting
up criteria under which these behaviors are observed - making the
general criteria the same for each group.
