My own soprano sax is an EM Winston, which I bought only because it was
cheap enough to make it worthwhile, given that relatively few gigs come
along for it. I have been very happy with it, and recently played it in a
concert (Grainger's "Handel on the Strand"). One of my fellow players
commented during a rehearsal that it was so nice to hear a soprano sax
played IN TUNE! You will want a better mouthpiece for it, however. The
Yamaha 4C is an inexpensive and substantial improvement over the stock Rico
Royal (which also came with mine).

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
