The B45 can support a vibrato quite well! Of course, a lot depends on =
the
individual performer and his or her experience with vibrato, the method
being used to produce the vibrato, and exactly what style of music =
you're
playing, which will dictate (at the very least on a personal level) the
"heaviness" and duration of the vibrato. =20
I use four different mouthpieces on a regular basis, depending on what =
sort
of gig I'm playing. I can produce reliable, pleasant vibrato with each =
of
them. =20
If you're interested, the mouthpieces currently in regular use are a
Woodwind K10, a Roger Garrett DL, a Clark Fobes Nova, and a Pomarico
Sapphire. (Until it was broken a while ago, my primary mouthpiece was a
B45, and I used it as my general utility mouthpiece - if I could only =
use
one mouthpiece to produce a variety of styles, that was the one.)

David, I wish I had read your post before performing Rhapsody in Blue =

our local orchestra. Vibrato is so perfect for that one. I never use
vibrato when playing with the orchestra but I just might start. I was =
never
taught vibrato but there is always something new to learn. I'll agree =
that
vibrato would work best with jazz. The flute players in our orchestra =
don't
use much vibrato either, except in solo passages. We work so hard on
intonation and I may be wrong, but I should think the use of vibrato may
wreak havoc amongst us, especially in the orchestra. Now, for my next
question, what mouthpieces are used by those of you who do use vibrato? =
I
have a Larry Combs mouthpiece that I think would work very well but the =
B45
just wouldn't work (I don't think so anyway).
