Exactly my feeling Anne. Like the uproar over the story "Little Black
Sambo" by the African American community some years ago, Sambo was Indian
not African and people who offered various protests about the story either
didn't take the time to read it or didn't understand the context nor the
point of view of the writer. As for "Le Petit Negre," from the beginning I
figured Debussy was offering a benign description of a street dancer,
likely not even African.
