The Toscanni cycle was done in the early 40s on RCA records...while being
inspired performances with some great playing the records are fairly ratty
in relation to intonation. This is most noticable in the slow movement of
the 5th of Beethoven and in alot of the 4th especially the opening with
flutes(movement one)..

This cycle has been cleaned up for CD and again this really is brought out
even more than on the scratchy records...but to my mind they are extremely
music and well done. The NBC play very well but quite unevenly in many
places through this cycle.
