I agree Patricia. It is not until one of the vibrato fist fights breaks
out on KLARINET (as they do periodically) that I realize how unformed
the clarimet community is in terms of reaching any kind of a concensus.

I add that I find much of the criticism about using vibrato to be
unworthy of us. When Kell came to the US after WW2, he was the most
astounding player I ever heard and he scared the hell out of the rest of
the American clarinet playing community. The way he was attacked was
with his use of vibrato, and it was a shame how this stunning player was
vilified for little but playing brilliantly. But it was his vibrato that
was attacked, and often visciously.
