Annie, I have and use this mike with my Sony MD recorder. It's a little
"tubby" and distant sounding, but works pretty well for the price. The
cartridge rotates, too, allowing two different pickup patterns.

Most large "guitar stores" sell this mike for considerably less than 299 -
I believe I paid about $200 for mine. http://shopper.cnet.com/ shows the
low price to be 190 right now.
