I have been using Mitchell Lurie 3 1/2. I tried a few other reeds and liked
the Mitchell Lurie best at this point. I have been playing less than six
months so I probably qualify for a middle school player as well.

Best Regards,

Subject: [kl] Survey - What brand of reeds do you use?

I know we have been through this before, but I thought it would be
interesting and instructive to see what people are playing on these days.

Several new brands of reeds are on the market. Some established brands seem
to have taken a dip in quality, some have seemed to improve. So - what reeds
are YOU using these days?

Also what reeds do you recommend for young (middle school) students.

Thanks,
Walter

superb mouthpieces and repairs.

BTW - here's my selection. For the past few months I have been using Zondas
and Gonzales reeds. Before that I was using Vandoren V 12's. I did have some
"regular" Vandorens that worked well for me when I couldn't get the V 12's
to play satisfactorily.

I almost always wind up with a 3 1/2 strength no matter what the brand
except for Mitchell Lurie, where I vacillated between 5's (too soft) and 5
1/2's (too stiff).
