Are you sure you're not thinking of the 4hz PVC contraclarinet
(http://www.contrabass.com/2002/2002-06-08.html)? This one took 64'
of PVC and Gregg Bailey claims that it's not really audible below the
8hz section. I doubt someone would add 256' of tubing to a contrabass
clarinet -- why use the contrabass to begin with?
Though I suppose if you really want to "hear" a 1hz sound, just play
your clarinet silently while tonguing quarters at mm 60.
