Subj: [kl] My first Chamber Music Party
Date: Mon, 16 Jun 2003 10:53:07 -0400

Hi. I just wanted to share an experience that I had yesterday, which
was unique and rewarding. I was invited to a chamber music party at
someone's home. It was great! Everyone brought a dish and we played
chamber music for a few hours. We had an audience that was attentive
and supportive. There were a couple of violas, french horns, two
clarinetists, a pianist, 3 violinists, 2 bassoonists, and a bassist.
We read the Shubert Octect, Beethoven Septet, The Neilsen Serenata in
Vano, Haydn Divertimento, a few Mozart viola duets, Mozart Horn
Quintet, and Duke Ellington's "Heaven" for Basson and string
quartet. It was a lot of fun and got to network with other musicians
in the area.

Has anyone else ever attended or hosted a chamber music party?? If
not, you should definitely try it. If so, do you have any other ideas
that we could do?? We are planning another one for the end of the
summer. Thanks.

"Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you
don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's
a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to
art." - Charlie Parker
