To avoid complex terminology, I like using a drinking straw analogy. I keep a
box of straws handy and have students pretend like they are drinking a
milkshake. If you cover up the other end of the straw with your finger, it seems to
help too.
Then I encourage the student to try and maintain that drinking straw shape as
they play. I try not to dwell on how they look too much, so long as their
tone is acceptable.
