This is also the case in the state solo and ensemble competitions in
many states. If the soloist plays from sheet music (rather than from
memory), the solo part must be an original published copy. Same for the
accompanist's music, and also for the copy provided to the judge.

Some small publishers (myself included) are now including an extra
"judge's copy" with publications where that is appropriate.
