From: "Matthew Lloyd" <Matthew@-----.uk> Subj: [kl] Law - sense or senseless? Date: Mon, 2 Jun 2003 10:29:23 -0400
This is getting seriously off topic but - having altered the subject
heading - I'll answer anyway.
Firstly your post implies that you think all lawyers are a waste of
space. Even apart from any vested interest I may have this seems a bit
harsh! But more seriously the law will only make sense when the
legislature passes laws that make sense. It isn't - in the main - the
judges who are responsible for making the Law make less sense... I think
they try to clarify the situation somewhat.
I don't think any lawyer would disagree that the law should make sense,
in the same way that I don't think that any lawyer would disagree that
all should be equal before it. But we certainly don't live in an ideal
world!!

The law SHOULD make sense. The degree to which it does NOT is what is
responsible for all the LAWYERS in the world!
