Here's another site called "The California Sheet Music Project." Started
in 1998 on a small grant, it is an archive of 2,000 pieces of sheet music
published between 1852 and 1900. Most of it is long forgotten (for good
reason) but there are gems here and there. Browsing the collection is a
lot of fun but it takes some time. Before Mother's day I downloaded 9
files with the keyword "mother" in them and prepared 3 for a Mother's Day
songfest with the family. In the process I discovered a lullaby by Louis
Moreaux Gottschalk. There are four records for this composer in the
