Your Bb and A are your primary instruments, whether you play Eb, or bass or whatever.
I have seen people knocked out of bass clarinet auditions before they ever got to play the bass clarinet. Their Bb/A playing was not up to snuff for the committee to spend time listening to them play bass. I'm sure it's the same thing on Eb.
Remember, in 99% of all symphony auditions, the first thing they will hear from you is the Mozart Concerto.....
That's not to say you shouldn't buy the BEST Eb you can get your hands on. I loved my eefer in 1973...I still do.....
