According to the serial number list at

that instrument would be from about 1948 (post WWII).

Everyone will have a different opinion of course but I feel that $1000 is
too high for one of that age even in excellent condition. You should be
able to get a used one that is only a decade or so old for that amount of
money.

If you do choose to get it, please have a knowledgeable and independent
third party evaluate it. This "supposed to be" is not enough to lay out
that kind of dough.
