Orphan Eefer

There has been a spate of Eefer remarks, which make it sound like it's an
orphan amongst the woodwinds.
Everyone know the Fire Bird by Stravinsky. Did you know that the Eefer had a
very important role in that work.
Originally the work was scored with four clarinets, two regular ones, an
Eefer and a bass.
Later when Stravinsky wanted to protect this work for copyright purpose he
arranged a new version with just two clarinets.
In the present version there is a section called Ronde Des Princesses. At
the end of the piece there are some clarinet solos that clarinet players
drool over. They are beautiful. The background is so enticing.
Originally these solos were for an Eb clarinet. And they sounded very good.
