Keith,

I used a Vandoren Crystal mouthpiece on mine for years when I was but a
youngster!

I'll have a chat with Julian at Howarths and see what he suggests. Will
also have a look at Mr. Pillinger.

No, the B&H clarinets (10-10, Imperial or 926, Edgware and 8-10) have
different bores from Buffet etc clarinets and need a different m/p. The
standard Vandoren etc will be out of tune. I can't remember the
difference but I think one needs a (mainly) cylindrical cavity and the
other a conical cavity in the m/p but I forget which! That being said, I
used a Vandoren on them for years before I found this out and it is not
tooo bad!

I'm out of town, but will try to remember to measure my 926s (in my view
the best of the B&H lot) when I get home.

I almost certainly have one or two original 926 mouthpieces at home that
I don't use, which you could get refaced. No doubt Ed Pillinger makes a
suitable one.

Does anyone know the bore of these instruments? I am aware that they
should be identical as the Edgware is a cheaper clone of the Imperial.

Given that it may not be entirely standard by the bores from Buffet et
al does anyone have any experience of a suitable mouthpiece supplier?
Will standard Vandoren mouthpieces tune okay?

I know that the obvious answer is to play and find out - but the Edgware
clarinets are at the Clarinet Hospital at the moment undergoing a course
of inpatient treatment.

Whilst asking - any similar views/information on the B & H 10-10
instruments - sort of era I am thinking of is the time when they had the
Acton vent so 1970- 1981 I guess (from the top of my head)

Many thanks,

Matthew Lloyd
