I have an O'Brien OB* crystal mouthpiece that I consider to be resistant
relative to others I own. It has a very narrow opening which responds well
with a Mitchell Lurie 4 1/2, but will only play so loud. Beyond a certain
point it simply will not accept any more air! And, yes, there is a feeling
of greater backpressure throughout the dynamic range. I find I prefer a
more free-blowing setup.
