I'm catching up so hopefully this hasn't been mentioned... You can
re-guild yourself for very little time/effort and money. There is a
metallic highlighting paste available in common "metals" (gold, silver,
bronze, etc...) just smear on and buff off with a clean cloth (directions
are, of course, included). Unfortunately I don't have a tube but I would
wager that Ferrees does, as well as hobby/craft stores.
