Marc,

The easiest way to find a different mouthpiece is to stick with
the Vandoren line and try a very different facing/lay
combination. The Vandorens are the cheapest mouthpieces on the
market readily available with a large selection. The Vandorens
are not handmade mouthpieces, but then again, if you are asking
about what you should try, you don't have a good idea already of
what choices you have, and trying out handmade mouthpieces
without knowing what you are looking for puts FAR too many
variables into the decision process. Vandorens are by far, in my
experience, the most consistent semi professional to
professional mass produced mouthpieces under $70 (US.) If I had
more money to spend, and I was VERY aware of what I was looking
for, I would buy a more expensive mouthpiece than a Vandoren. I
am assuming by the nature of your question that you need
guidance on where to start, and I think the Vandoren line could
be the best bet for you.

If you play on the B45, I would try ALL of these mouthpieces
until you find one you like... B45 DOT (different from B45),
5RV, 5RV Lyre, M13, M15, M30.

These mouthpieces are all different than what you are playing.
You can go to a more expensive handmade mouthpiece later once
you know what works for you. My rule of thumb for students is:

1. if you like your mouthpiece, but want more of some aspect of
playing than it gives, try similar mouthpieces to the one you
have for a replacement.

2. If you DON'T like the way your mouthpiece plays, try
DIFFERENT types of mouthpieces than the type you already have.

I would also employ the suggestions of a clarinet teacher or
other well studied clarinetist, to assist you in the decision
process by listening to how you sound on the perspective
mouthpieces.
