Tony said, " the sound you have in your head that's important."

I'm glad someone else agrees with me on this one. Since being a =
musician is
all about sound, how can one play on "any old reed?" I can always =
recognize
a musical student with great potential. They really care about the =
sound
they produce from their instrument and easily become dismayed and =
frustrated
if they can't produce the sound they want to hear. Once they understand
that there is a big difference in tone with different reeds and =
mouthpieces
they'll work overtime to get the sound they want to hear. The problem =
is
compounded when Mom and Dad can't or won't spend the extra $ on reeds or =
a
new mouthpiece and that's when some reed adjusting skills become very
important to learn. For those of you who say some are too fussy or
obsessive about reeds, I'll guarantee you I must be able to hear =
something
you can't because I'd know if I sat next to you in an ensemble if you =
had a
"good" reed of not. =20
