Nancy, Since I haven't played on the instrument more than 30 minutes or =
so
since I had it overhauled, I'm going to simply need to become =
reacquainted
with the thing in it "new condition." I should have clarified this in =
my
previous e-mail. Scott Winkler, Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin overhauled =
it.
His price isn't cheap but his overhauls have been worth every penny to =
me.
I've had others "overhaul" my instruments but none have ever come close =
to
the quality of Scott's overhauls. The other jobs were always cheaper =
but I
had to have twice as many done. Scott has me select the pads I want, =
etc...
I know there are others who do a great job also and some are on this =
list
but I think Scott's work deserves mention for those who may not have =
heard
of him.
It's funny how those embouchure adjustments, etc... become second
nature when you're accustomed to doing them. To this day, I catch =
myself
making embouchure adjustments if I'm not thinking about it on my throat
tones. Since my clarinet is now properly voiced I don't need to worry =
about
it anymore and my throat tones are no longer sharp but I still catch =
myself
trying to flatten them sometimes. (It's sort of like a reflex or habit =
I've
had a hard time breaking-much to my dismay when the note comes out =
flat.) I
just had a piano recital for my piano students and truly haven't had the
time to play my clarinets but it's definitely on my summer schedule. I
used to have to work very hard just to get some of the notes out on that =
Eb
because it was so leaky but I knew just which notes were off the most =
and by
how much. =20
