Gary,
An Eb clarinet has no chance against 40 trumpets, 30 horns, and 20 trombones
with 8-10 tubas thrown in. Many marching bands have almost all brass and
percussion. The WW players are used mostly on percussion, flags, dancers and
etc. Worrying about balance, blend, intonation, precision, and musical
qualities is mostly a waste of time.
