In a masterclass a few years ago in Oklahoma, Michele Zukofsky of the LA
Philharmonic passed around her Wurlitzer Oehler system instrument for everyone to
gawk at. She also explained that she used a Yamaha Oehler system for chamber
music, because the sound is more intimate. I assumed the Wurlitzer gave her the
big boomy sound she needed for the orchestra.
