'Twas I that made the remark mentioning the possibility that it might be
dreadful. What I meant was, given that I had just spent my hard earned
squids on the Barenreiter edition I wasn't going to be pleased to hear
if it wasn't good! That much was a humorous aside (at least that was the
intention) and then I followed it up saying that in fact I was
interested in opinions - which you very helpfully gave. Yours is one of
the opinions I was interested in.
If I expressed myself poorly then I apologise! I certainly wasn't
intending to suggest either that is was genuinely poor or that you would
think it was.

When did I ever suggest that the Barenreiter edition was dreadful?
That's pure invention. I have said that it is not authoritative but
never suggested that it is dreadful.
