You think spirits are better than liqueurs? I suppose they are less
sticky!!!

Love the idea of the Maraschino cherries! I suppose the same thing
applies to Kirsch soaked reeds!

Ouzu might be nice... Or, if you really recommend Whisky, I could try
Asbach! I'm never one to be conventional.....

I sense some experimentation coming on - just wish I still had my first
clarinet (Artley Prelude - but I was young!!!) to play with.

I'm not tempted to use my "spare" pair as I am just having them
overhauled and made as good as new - which is going to be nearly half as
much again as the cost of them when I was about fourteen!

Subject: [kl] Hawaiian PUNCH!

Well, the reeds soaked in Hawaiian Punch and Southern Comfort were quite
popular last night. We used about ten of them. I took a clipper and
some rush and sat there and adjusted reeds for the clarinets in
attendance. In a matter of minutes we had four very happy clarinetists
belting out Pomp and Circumcision. We had a right nice old time. The
reeds tasted like Maraschino cherries. One of the oboe players borrowed
the cup and did two of her reeds. This is an outdoor gig, starts at 6
PM and ended at about 10:30 PM. It was cold and dark. I used my pink
Vito clarinet complete with refaced pink Woodwind mouthpiece and had
pink reeds. I was in the pink all night. Sorry Rebecca, I can't agree
with you. I will do this the next time I get roped into playing a
graduation ceremony. They are long and boring and the whiskey reeds
were a nice diversion.
