Dear Young Artist Competition clarinetist:

Congratulations!

>>From your participation in the CD round of the International Clarinet
Association Young Artist Competition, you have been selected as a
semi-finalist, and will now move on to compete in Salt Lake City. The
level of competition among the dozens of competitors from all over the
world was quite high and you all are to be commended for your efforts
and artistry.

The semi-final round will be at 9:00 am on Thursday 10 July, and the
final round at 9:00 am Friday 11 July. You will probably rehearse on
Wednesday 9 July, so you should arrive in Salt Lake City on 8 July (or
even a day earlier, if you can).

Register for the conference and make housing arrangements now. I have
attached a registration form, or you can print one from
www.clarinetfest.org or www.clarinet.org. Your conference registration
fee will be waived so DO NOT pay registration fees. Write "Young Artist
Competition" on the top of the form. Also, if you choose to use the
university housing option, you will need to make those reservations on
the conference registration form. You are responsible for your own
travel, food, and any other expenses.

I will send you more specific information about rehearsal/competition
times when it becomes
available to me. The conference will be supplying an accompanist for
you, however you may elect to
bring your own accompanist at your own expense if you so choose. You
get one rehearsal with the competition pianist. Please let me know
immediately if you plan to use your own pianist, so that I may inform
the conference organizers so they can plan the rehearsal schedule.

The accompanied repertoire for the semi-final round will be the Debussy,
and the Castelnuovo-Tedesco for the finals. You should be prepared to
play the Larsen in both rounds.

That's all for now. Congratulations on your accomplishment of making it
this far in the competition!
Please do let me know if you cannot attend or need assistance in some
other way.

All the best,
--
