I used to have a customer who ordered Vandoren Hand Select #2's!!! To each
his own!

I like to have a couple of good reeds to alternate. But I regularly play
on 3 different mouthpieces for different occasions, so I need a couple for
EACH mouthpiece. And for each instrument (different sizes of clarinets and
saxes), on some of which I use different mouthpieces for classical vs.
jazz. If I have two reeds, or one good Legere, that works with each
possible setup, I am a HAPPY man!

Just for information, Vandoren has a new Jazz reed out for saxophone. The
first two I pulled out of the box to try on my Meyer 5M alto sax mouthpiece
immediately became those two good reeds, with no preparation beyond a
little vamp polishing with the back of my fingernail.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
