A couple of years ago, I bought two reed cases from a young man on this
list.
One of them holds 5 Bb reeds on one side and 4 bass reeds on the other side.
Top 2/3 of reed rest on glass plates. The reeds are held in place by felt
"thingies". (Sorry for the technical term. <g>) I don't know what it is,
but it simply clamps against the sides of the reed bases, about 1/2" from
the butt end..
The second one holds 7 Bb reeds, same structure.
One is cherry and the other is walnut. Nicely constructed. Number 1 has
spring loaded hinges Both are held closed by magnets. There is a little
engraved brass plate on the edge where it opens that says "Harris."
I'm sorry, but I don't remember the maker's name (other than the probable:
Harris <g>). A search of the archives might bring up the name and email, if
he's still making them. My only complaint is that neither fit in the Bb/A
Selmer double case. Obviously, if I carry a base, it's not a problem.
Otherwise, it just goes in the pocket.
Hope this helps,
Jim Hobby
