I've had very good luck by doing the following:

rinse the reed with water

squegee the reed between thumb and finger to get most of the water off

let the reed dry on a "thirsty pad" from Doctor's Products
(www.doctorsprod.com)

No financial interest but he gives really good service and the little
thirsty pad and a small piece of plexiglass both fit nicely in the
little bag that comes with it and it all fits easily in the case. I just
use my reed cases to hold the reeds after they're dry.
