In terms of a case that keeps your reeds in an order,
Vandoren makes 4 and now 8-reed cases that have
numbers (or an ascending number of little dots if I'm
remembering correctly) in each reed "bay". The other
feature is that they have little grooves under each
reed to help the bottom dry at the same rate as the
top, to help guard against bottom warpage. The 8-reed
holder is a relatively new thing.

I've always used "Precision Music" reed cases made
here in Toronto (I think Pete Spriggs in BC now sells
them) with totally flat bottoms. I've experimented
with the Vand. cases but seemed to get a lot of wavy
tips, that took longer than usual to flatten out with
playing, so I've gone back to the flat bottom ones.
But as Howard Klug taught at Indiana, I always let the
reeds stand backwards against the music stand or
upside-down on a table when done so both sides dry out
evenly before putting them away.

Hope this helps,

Peter
