I'm not sure what part of the country you're from, but here in Florida, reed
cases that are enclosed are NOT a good idea. They cause mold to grow like
crazy. In my experience, the little black plastic Vito reed guard with the
rubber holders and the air slots are just great, but they only hold 4 reeds
each.

There was an article in The Clarinet Dec. 1998 by Chuck West that I have
found very helpful on the subject of reed storage and seasoning.

While we're on the subject of reeds, I just got my Ridenour ATG reed system
yesterday, and tried it on one of my students. There are two main ways to
use it, and I did the basic one of just evening out the tips of all 4 of this
students' reeds (Vandoren V-12's), including the ones that were chipped (6th
graders!). The difference was AMAZING! I haven't tried it on my reeds yet,
as my clarinet is in the shop, but I am anxious to start. I will report
further when I have done so.
