Well, after twenty years of using the same crystal nondescript mouthpiece
and after seeking advice from this list, this morning I went to a music shop
and did a 'blind trial' of four models.
I was absolutely stunned at the difference it made. One I didn't like at all
but the other three were all vastly better than my "Bucci" crystal one. I
picked one of them and it turned out to be a Vandoren B45 and I bought it. I
just wish I'd tried something else years ago, instead of persisting with the
one mouthpiece that came with it.
I would say my situation is rudimentary and there may be more subtle
differences that are lost on me, but am still reeling from the thought of
all those years of having to blow so hard.
