Subj: [kl] "5 Pieces for Trumpet & Clarinet" by Steven Rosenhaus
Date: Wed, 7 May 2003 21:46:55 -0400

I was recently looking for some trumpet & clarinet duets on our
woodwind.org website, and I found these pieces by Steven Rosenhaus.
Today I finally read through them with Dan Bell, the director of bands
at Cheyenne Mtn. Jr High, and they were absolutely delightful. They were
very short pieces, and very contemporary. Steven Rosenhaus is a
marvelous composer. Dan and I will be performing the pieces together on
my upcoming recital on May 20. I had to order the pieces by email,
directly from Steven himself.

He sent 2 very nicely printed scores with both parts. I am so glad
that I ordered these pieces.
Now I will be truly happy if I can find a "swingin" duet for tuba
and clarinet. One of our elementary band directors, Erik Miller, is a
great tuba player. I heard a great tuba & clarinet duet in the streets
of the French Quarter playing traditional dixieland in New Orleans
during ClarinetFest 2001. Doreen Ketchens was playing a mean clarinet
and her husband jammed on tuba. Sometimes he got a little bit frisky and
played Miles Davis licks (on the tuba) in between tunes. They sold a lot
of CD's and made quite a bit of money. I think they should have been
hired for that ClarinetFest. I don't think I will ever be happy until I
get to play a swingin tuba duet with Mr. Etik Miller. ANNIE
