Speaking of tuning, when I tune my clarinet I often have a gap such as the
one you mentioned. I took note of "tuning rings" and wondered if they are
adequate to keep the connection between the barrel and the first joint
straight. Are the tuning rings useful? I ask because I find that sometimes
the barrel is not straight when I am in tune.

Thoughts?

If it is a good quality piano, I wouldn't try to tune it as high as
A=444. That difference of 4Hz isn't negligible, and will greatly
increase the amount of tension on the frame or ribs of the piano. You
could cause some structural damage that way.

Why not learn to play the clarinet in tune at A=440? That way, you will
have the chance to play in tune with other musicians in ensembles.
