Nt exactly a clarinet questin but almost. As the rebirth of my clarinet
playing unfolds, and following the advice of good people on this list, I
have purchased a tuner. It answered a question I have had for years. "why
can't my wife accomply me on the clarinet." I always assumed it was the
clarinet and then put it away for another 5years or so. This time it is out
of the closet to stay.

Turns out that my clarinet is A=444 and the piano isA=417. We always had
trouble tuning. (I thought the clarinet was going to fall apart.) Then,when
in tune for one note it was way out on the aother end of the register.
Anyway the Question of the day.

Can a piano be retuned with that much of a pitch change. One tuner says
"Maybe and only with about three trips." anyone else with experience along
these lines. I would be happy with something close to A=440 since I plan to
get retire this Old Conn Director (1958) someday and get a brand new
???????? model.
