When Geoffrey Hawkes, head of Boosey and Hawkes, was here many years ago,
he mentioned to me that clarinet players in London greased the end of the
joint. Thats where there are pores that allow moisture to get into the wood
of the clarinet. I've been greasing that part all the time since then. AG
