I recently bought an R-13 and the tenon that fits into the bottom joint was very tight, no matter how much cork grease I applied. I ended up sanding the tenon tip just outside of the cork a small amount to get it to fit smoothly, then re-oiled that portion (as well as the mortise where it had been abrading) and have no problems now. Of course this could be dangerous as sanding is an operation that can be hard to undo... :-P
