At this point, I don't think I will be at ClarinetFest. As a "vendor" I find it frustrating, as I want to go the the recitals and the presentations. It's hard being stuck at a booth when someone you really want to hear is playing a recital right down the hall.

I also find it frustrating as a craftsman, in that people are all playing clarinets loudly in an acoustically imperfect room. It makes it very hard to evaluate whether what you are hearing is really representative.

In terms of barrels, there is no "one" barrel size or taper that will fit every clarinet. Due to varrying bore sizes, what will work great on one clarinet will be a intonation nightmare on another.

I much prefer to have the clarinet in my workshop, so I can evaluate its problems, then come up with a bore size and taper that will fix the problems. That's the way I have my real successes as in the "barrel-biz".

Thanks for asking though, Rebecca.
