Some of your answer might depend on what about them makes you feel they've
all gone soft. I know, that sounds like a dumb proposition, but it's
possible that, as your jury exam draws nearer and nearer, you're biting and
clenching more and the reeds aren't really different.
Weather-related effects on reed strength happen, but most of the time the
reeds you've prepared, as well as the ones you take fresh from the box,
cover a range of strengths. SOME will still be playable. If ALL of my reeds
suddenly seem to be uncomfortable, I immediately suspect either a mechanical
problem on the instrument or a stress-related mechanical problem in my
playing.
Of course, all of your reeds could just be too soft... ;-)
