Greetings folks
I have an old Conn Eb, as part of my clarinet collection and for some time
now I have been thinking about what to do about the yellow discoloration of
the plastic. I was fiddling with paints and other products on the extra
mouthpiece.
No luck the paints either bubbled up or went on to thick then chipped off.
Plus they
may add a undesirable dampening to the instrument?
I was marking a tested section with a marker when it dawned on me. Magic
Marker!
I promptly rounded up a permanent Marks-A-Lot marker and went to town on the
mouth piece. Perfect! A little buffing after to set the dye, I mean perfect.
The bell is now sitting on my computer case as I type, you can not tell it
from new.
I have rubbed it with my hands to check for bleeding and such, nothing.
Give me a couple
more days and the old Conn will be good as new.
Joe
