Generally speaking, for jazz you use a bit more open mouthpiece and softer
reed for greater projection and flexibility to bend notes. I have been
using a Selmer C85 115, which had a 1.15 tip opening. You could easily go
even bigger, though. Selmer makes a C85 120 also (1.20 tip opening), and I
think the Vandoren 5JB is also more open, and is touted by the company as a
"jazz' mouthpiece.
