Placing the register key on top keeps it out of the moisture path. The
long register key tube is not required. My Carl Fischer A clarinet with
WAOK has a pretty decent-sounding throat Bb. One potential downside is
that it is relatively easy to bend the key out of alignment. Maybe that is
why they switched?
