<< Sorry about swearing >>

FYI, your censoring of the blasphemy in your post made me think for a second
that you were using another much ruder word than I presume you actually
meant... :P

Actually that probably doesn't show me in a very good light does it?-) But
to the point of what you are saying: I think signal and noise come and go on
the list. And the "noise" can come as often as not from people talking
about the clarinet and music---while I've picked up many useful pieces of
information from this list, I've also on many occasions heard people loudly
stating opinions which I've felt to be highly misleading and inappropriate.
Sometimes it was the same people providing both types of content!

A little social chat on the list is probably a good thing, too much not
so---and socialising is best done for the most part away from the net. ;-)

By the way, I *do* recommend you try some of Ed Pillinger's mouthpieces if
you ever get a chance. I spent a very enjoyable afternoon at his workshop
in London last year and came away with a mouthpiece I'm very happy
with---and I don't think I've ever come across someone who provides quite so
much variety both in chamber design and lay.

Best,

-- Joe
