Aldwell and Schachter's textbook on first-year music theory (for experienced musicians) comes to
mind. I suggest you visit your local university's bookstore and leaf through a few of their music
theory and composition textbooks to get a feel for which one might work for you. I had to brush
up on calculus for my return to MBA school, and a calculus textbook off the school bookstore shelf
proved to be very useful. Same with statistics.
