One thing to be careful is that languages change over time. The Italian of
today is not identical to the Italian of Mozart's time. Plus in everyday
speech (as opposed to formal speech and writing), final vowels are often
dropped. Some in-depth research might be required to see what "rules", both
formal and informal, applied to the language at that time.
