I skipped the first few postings about this because I was skimming and that
first one was really long. I don't like to respond if I haven't been
reading the entire thread because I will, inevitably, say something wrong.
I thought the thread was concerning the second word. There is no such
Italian word as Grand if that where your problem lies. In fact, even Gran
has to have been 'imported'. Italian words always end in a vowel. Always.
Unless they come from some other language originally. As for the second
word, dude with the holy war is right. It should be partitta. :)

There MUST be at least ONE person on the list who is fluent in Italian, who
might shed some light of the usage of Gran and Grand. I no longer have an
Italian dictionary or grammar with which to check it. There is a parallel in
Spanish. Those same two words are used, with a slight difference in
intention
In my tradition, Dan, may you live to 120....in good health.
