Did anyone catch a Prairie Home Companion on Public Radio this weekend?
Together with the house ensemble, known as the "Shoe Band" they performed a
movement from what I think was the Brahms 2nd Serenade. IMHO, it was a
great performance of a very fine arrangement.
The program ended with Garrison Keilor's "News from Lake Woebegone" in which
he told the story of a woman from his mythical hometown who was reminiscing
about her wedding forty years ago. Interspersed with her memory of a not so
memorable wedding day were excerpts from A Midsummer Night's Dream. I
haven't listened to PHC in a long, long time, but this one was probably one
of the best ones I've ever heard.
Bravo to the Minnesota Orchestra and Minnesota Public Radio!
Regards,
Brian Peterson
