Over the years, I continue to work really hard at not moving so much
that it is a distraction to others, or could potentially mess with my
tone or technique. The other day, a horn player friend of mine
mentioned that he recently went to a chamber music performance where
the Brahms Trio was being performed and the clarinetist looked like
he was "churning butter." I laughed so hard, particularly when he
demonstrated, but that is just another example of how one's
performance can be side tracked by excessive movement.

"Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you
don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's
a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to
art." - Charlie Parker
